I’m looking through my gallery of images when I was asked for a very Vermontish Christmas card suggestion. Well I thought I had many such images but I really have many versions of the same scene. My favorite Vermont church in Winter is the round church in Richmond Vermont. Images below can be found in my Vermont gallery.
Vermont round church
The Vermont round church in Richmond has many moods as you can see here. It all depends on when you come to visit. I first got my inspiration to photograph this church years ago when I saw an image of it in Yankee Magazine.
I didn’t know where it was, but then I met Lisa (my wife), and I once told her about this church and she said, “I know where that is!” We visited it many times over the next ten years, trying to time it just right and get all the elements. (Snow, candles, and as a bonus, a lit Christmas tree)
In 2013, we were going up after a storm, and she suggested we drop in there, and I actually wasn’t going to, except for her urging. (I love her at times like this) We found the scene with kids sledding down the hill. Then I was thinking about leaving when the candles in the windows came on along with the lights on the tree. “Priceless”
