The scene unfolds at Nubble Lighthouse on a serene dusk of July 31. The sky is a canvas of deepening hues, transitioning from the warm embrace of twilight to the velvety darkness of night. The air is still, carrying a subtle hint of the ocean breeze that sweeps in from the nearby coast. As the… Continue reading The Nubble in July

A Barn in the Fall Colors or is it?
This is one of those scenes that leaf peepers love to find. A lovely old barn in Vermont alongside a road in a valley full of the fall colors. At least one thinks so… I’ve on occasion played with AI or Artificial Intelligence. In the image above, the barn is the only thing that was… Continue reading A Barn in the Fall Colors or is it?
Chasing Sea Smoke on a Frigid Morning
Let’s be frank: I’m not an adventure junkie hooked on the adrenaline rush of doing crazy things just to get an impressive photo. If you are looking for that kind of article, then keep moving. I’m more laid-back, and I like to relax and enjoy my photography experience. The Danger of Assumptions… First, this is… Continue reading Chasing Sea Smoke on a Frigid Morning
Exploring the views of Marblehead Neck
A cold winter’s afternoon led to a rosy glow over Marblehead Massachusetts. You can also see the nearby, Children’s Island, Cormorant Rock, and Marblehead Rock just offshore from Marblehead Lighthouse. Driving out onto Marblehead Neck is a breathtaking experience that offers stunning views of the ocean and the Massachusetts coastline. But there are a ton… Continue reading Exploring the views of Marblehead Neck
A Beautiful 2022 Fall Foliage Season
As always, I start traveling in September to see how the New England fall colors are developing. The image below was taken on 29 September, and even though I was thinking the fall colors would develop earlier, they were in line with past years as far as their arrival.
The Beaver Brook Waterfall is North of Colebrook, New Hampshire. But you can find this multi-drop cascade at the roadside. There are no trails to traverse to see this waterfall. The overall drop is 80 feet, and you can take a stroll along the wooden walkway from the grass, across the stream to the base of the Waterfall.
The Covered Bridges of Montgomery Vermont
Montgomery, Vermont, is not like Stowe or Woodstock. It’s not as touristy or quite as picturesque. Real Vermonters live here, farmers, small-town business’s and all the things we think of when we think small-town Vermont. One thing that puts Montgomery above and beyond the tourist-heavy towns is that Montgomery has covered bridges, six of them… Continue reading The Covered Bridges of Montgomery Vermont
Northfield Five – Lower Falls Covered Bridge
The Lower Falls Covered Bridge is the least of the five covered bridges in Northfield, Vermont. Smallest, shortest, or least attractive? Do you think so? I also want to mention that ALL 5 Northfield covered bridges are red… To me, that beats Montgomery’s 6 NOT red covered bridges But does least mean last? It was… Continue reading Northfield Five – Lower Falls Covered Bridge
Vermont covered bridges in winter
Once the autumn colors are past, I wait eagerly for the first snows to fly. Then I want to go and find some of Vermont’s covered bridges. Not just any covered bridges, since Vermont has quite a few. I’m looking for those that are painted red! Red covered bridges in winter The contrast of the bright… Continue reading Vermont covered bridges in winter
A great Christmas card of a Vermont church
I was asked for a very Vermontish Christmas card suggestion. This is what I came up with…
Foggy morning on Derby Wharf
A foggy morning here in Salem, and it makes me wonder what Nathaniel Hawthorne would have seen when looking out his windows at the Customs House, behind me, across Derby Road. Of course, in his day, he might have seen a brig or barque arriving at one of the many wharves along Salem’s waterfront in… Continue reading Foggy morning on Derby Wharf
