A Barn in the Fall Colors or is it?

This is one of those scenes that leaf peepers love to find. A lovely old barn in Vermont alongside a road in a valley full of the fall colors. At least one thinks so…

A Barn sits in the fall colors

I’ve on occasion played with AI or Artificial Intelligence. In the image above, the barn is the only thing that was there. I photographed this image off Route 109 near Waterville, Vermont.

In the image above the the valley and fall colors were created by Photoshop’s generative AI. Here is what I started with. A drone photograph of a rural farm scene near Waterville, Vermont, on Route 109.

As you can see in the actual photo that I wasn’t really in a Valley as depicted, and the fall colors are not as progressed as we would have liked. This drone image is not one that I would put up for sale, but the AI-generated one makes me wonder, could I?

Real VS. AI

If you follow that road around the bend to the left you are heading into the town of Waterville Vermont, and its covered bridge. I drone my drone over to the bend in the road and captured this image of Waterville.

Waterville Vermont is a small but cozy village in the hills of the Northeast Kingdom. View in my gallery.

I’m not a photojournalistic photographer, (shooting for news publications), I consider myself more of an artist and I feel free to take liberties with my images. That is up till it’s no longer what I consider my photograph.

Especially from September through November I show my images of fall as close to as I saw them. My aim is to remain your reliable source for New England’s autumn foliage.

I say this because I want to say upfront that I want my art to remain real. I may dabble from time to time but most all of my work is pretty close to what I saw through a camera lens on that particular day.

AI is not always good…

As you can see here, I could create some pretty weird things, like this covered bridge leading up to the barn. and either the barn is a shack based on it’s size versus the height of the covered bridge.

This is just so wrong on so many levels…

So, what are your thoughts on this new AI? Fan or not? I think it’s interesting and, as they say, a disruptive force. But for good or evil, only time will tell…
